Pharmacology Animation
United Kingdom
Приєднався 18 січ 2016
Pharmacology animation book is a comprehensive project that transform pharmacology education from boring static slides into more dynamic and attractive narrated animations. For the first time, the animations of this book cover almost all important pharmacological topics. The book is classified into major units, each unit composed of subunits or group of systematically related animations. This book is supported by easily navigated system that allow the visitors to smoothly transport within and between different pharmacological units.
The pharmacology animation book might not the first project of pharmacology animation but it is the first free comprehensive, systematically arranged and academically oriented book

DMARDs: Disease Modifying Anti-Rheumatoid Drugs
This video briefly illustrates the major concepts of DMARDs. The video starts with balancing the benefits and drawbacks of NSAIDs and corticosteroids in management of rheumatoid arthritis. Then it briefly compares between DMARDs and biologics. The main DMARDs are mentioned in the video.
Special attention was given to suggested mechanism of action of methotrexate and leflunomide drugs.

Biologics Drugs: Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis
Переглядів 11 тис.3 роки тому
Biologics are treatment derived from a biological process rather than being manufactured chemically. Biologics can be broadly classified into two major groups; Anti-Tumour necrosis factor alpha and others. Among various cytokines, Tumour necrosis factor alpha is the main target of for many biologics Therefore, will start with the anti-tumour necrosis factor. In the TNFα producing cells such as ...
Paracetamol (Acetaminophen): Mechanism of Action
Переглядів 24 тис.3 роки тому
This animated video briefly illustrate the four suggested pathways which might mediate the mechanisms of actions of Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) 1- Serotonin Pathway 2- Eicosanoids Pathways 3- Cannabinoids Pathways 4- Opioids Pathways Additionally it explains why there are two different name for the same drug : Paracetamol and Acetaminophen.
Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) hepatotoxicity and its management.
Переглядів 58 тис.4 роки тому
This animated video illustrates the mechanisms of Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) induce hepatotoxicity. It compares the production of toxic intermediate NAPQI under both therapeutic and toxic concentration of paracetamol. Glutathions plays important role in transforming NAPQI into water soluble no toxic metabolite that is readily excreted by the kidney This video also explain why paracetamol induc...

Переглядів 1,8 тис.4 роки тому
Eicosanoids are strongly involved in mediating inflammation; therefore, all eicosanoids inhibitors work as anti-inflammatory agents. Starting from the early step in the eicosanoid production pathway Corticosteroids, specifically the glucocorticoids, interfere with the phospholipase A2 enzyme Therefore, interfere with the production of almost all types of inflammatory eicosanoids. Indeed, glucoc...
Baroreceptors, Cardiovascular and CNS

Blood pressure regulation How our body compensate the sudden elevation of blood pressure Increased blood pressure will stretch the baroreceptors located in the aortic and carotid sinuses. The baroreceptors in turn will stimulate the cardioinhibitory centre in the medulla oblongata Which will enhance the parasympathetic activities through vagus nerve. This results in decreased heart rate or brad...
Antibodies : structures, functions and types
Переглядів 43 тис.4 роки тому
This short video briefly illustrates the general structure of the antibody. There are 5 types of antibodies; IgD, IgE, IgG, IgA and IgM. there are many functions for antibodies, among them; 1- Agglutination 1- Antibody mediated phagocytes 3- Antibody mediated cellular toxicities
Eicosanoids in 2 minutes; Prostaglandins, Prostacyclin, Thromboxane and Leukotrienes
Переглядів 31 тис.4 роки тому
This animated video illustrates in 2 minutes the production of important ecosanoids starting from catalysis of cell membrane phospholipids by phospholipase enzyme to produce arachidonic acid The cyclooxygenase enzyme pathways produce prostanoids, which include Prostaglandins, Prostacyclin, and Thromboxane The lipoxygenase enzyme pathways produce various leukotrienes
NSAIDs, corticosteroids , leukotrienes inhibitors. Anti-inflammatory groups

Cardinal signs of inflammation: Prostaglandins and Leukotrienes
Переглядів 16 тис.4 роки тому
There are five cardinal signs of inflammation. Swelling, Pain, Redness, Heat and loss of function Now we will see how eicosanoids especially prostaglandins and leukotrienes mediate these inflammatory signs. Prostaglandins are released from endothelial and inflammatory cells such as macrophages or dendritic cells They stimulate nerve endings producing a state of hyperalgesia Which makes nerves m...
Paracetamol or Acetaminophen: Why we have two different names across the Atlantic?
Переглядів 11 тис.4 роки тому
We have two different names Paracetamol and Acetaminophen for the same drug because American and British have chosen different letters from the same chemical formula which is (para-acetylamino phenol)

Wow so good for med students as I dont need to know the details of this
It is ridiculous how good I feel on albendazole, like body it getting the rest it needed for so long. I think it must be because it's a iron chelator and, unlike probably any other chelator, it can cross the bbb. Iron in the brain may be harder to dislodge out of all the organs exactly because other chelators can't get to the brain. Neurocyst would also react to withdrawal of iron esp since alb can enter the parasite cells, but I think the bigger effect is removing excess iron in the brain right now. And iron overload causes hypercalcemia. In the brain this can lead to psychiatric symptoms on its own.
Thank you so much
What I needed
Amazing thank you
ليش ماكو صوت بالفديو ؟ 😢
عاشت ايدك دكتورة على هذا الشرح العظيم
